About Lauren Murrell

"Hi. My name is Lauren Murrell, and I have been training horses and instructing riders for 25+ years. My love is teaching, and my desire is that my students learn so well that they can tackle their own horse problems. I am also a carded judge.

I have trained all breeds, and have shown mostly in AQHA, Quarter Horses, and APHA, Paints, etc. I have numerous Youth Circuit Champions in All Around Events in OK and CA. Many Amateur All Arounds. Many Youth All Arounds. I have Club Champions, State Champions, World Qualifiers, an AQHA Congress Nov YTH Champion, and Gold n Grand Champions. In all events including halter, showmanship, pleasure, horsemanship, hunt seat, trail, and reining. I myself have shown for 25 yrs with points in WP, Trail and Reining. OPEN Champion in Reining 2004, Gold-n-Grand.

I grew up on Tenn Walkers, and even worked for TWHA in 1977, but moved over to stock horses since they offered more versatility. In addition to my work with stock horses, I presently work with many TWH exhibitors and do many clinics for the Walkers.

Although I show in many events as do my students, my specialties are trail, horsemanship, showmanship, and reining, anything that requires a pattern. But TRAIL is what I really love! Trail is now one of the top events, very competitive, and so much fun! I have a particular way of teaching so that my students gain the knowledge they need not only to ride the event, but to FIX it where they can be competitive in the show pen.

Just finished some huge WH trail clinics here at my ranch last fall--what a huge success! Much training is lacking in the WH world regarding trail and versatility that I can certainly help with! I want to help those riders that REALLY WANT TO LEARN!

I pride myself in working really hard to produce a harmonious relationship between horse and rider. It's all based on knowledge, respect, and good horse sense!

I am carded with PtHA (Pinto), ABRA (Buckskin), and CSHA (CA State).

I hail from Memphis, TN originally, and started teaching Piano when I was 16. I finished college at Middle TN State Univ with a degree in International Relations and Spanish with an emphasis on Latin America and a minor in music, and then joined the Air Force. I went to navigation school and became a KC-135 Navigator but continued to teach music on the side. I then became an Instructor Navigator, and began teaching new navigators while I continued teaching music. As a horse owner and enthusiast, I also began teaching riding lessons. I eventually left the AF, and continued my teaching as a horse instructor only. I became a professional horse instructor in 83, and then opened my own training business. I have run a training and teaching stable for the last 28 years. I still teach music and am the choir director and pianist for my church. "

Blessed is the Nation whose God is the LORD!
